The Thom-Boy Project
Who We Are and What We Do
The Thom-Boy Project is a non-profit public benefit corporation, which is tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code. The Thom-Boy Project was formed in Oregon and is licensed and bonded and is currently serving clients nationwide.

The Thom-Boy Project is focused on the practice of providing Fiduciary and Representative Payee services to those who require assistance.

We are passionate about the smallest details of a client’s unique and individual situation. We are committed to providing the best and most effective professional non-profit Fiduciary or Representative Payee services. Our business model is designed to provide a service to successfully manage client's money and allow clients to live the quality of life they deserve.
For some individuals, traditional networks of support such as responsible family or friends are not available. An unfortunate reality is that there are too many people who prey on individuals who need assistance. The financial exploitation and abuse of seniors and disabled persons runs rampant in every cross-section society. From ‘well meaning’ volunteers to friends and even family; the reports are frequent, even in our communities.
Often, the most vulnerable populations may be manipulated into financial mismanagement. By selecting The Thom-Boy Project the client and the paying agency are guaranteed to have the funds managed properly and in the best interest of the client. Because The Thom-Boy Project is a neutral third-party, we become an extra layer of protection to help stop the emotional pleas, threats and bullying that the ‘well meaning’ use against our potential clients.
As a Fiduciary or a Representative Payee Organization we can be selected or appointed by a number of paying agencies such as:
-
The Social Security Administration (SSA)
-
The Veterans Administration (VA)

-
The Railroad Retirement Board (RRB)

-
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM)
We will receive and administer benefits for a client, who, due to mental or physical impairments, is unable to receive and manage the benefits, for him or herself.
The Thom-Boy Project Mission Statement
The Thom-Boy Project’s mission is to enrich our communities by attending to the financial needs of the disabled, distressed and under-privileged citizens who need assistance. We will provide quality service to our clients and meet their needs with compassion and integrity while meeting the expectations of the agencies we serve.

According to a study conducted in the United States in 2020, Financial Exploitation allegations have increased substantially (https://www.gao.gov/assets/gao-21-90.pdf). There are some alarming statistics that reflect that members of our communities that are unable to manage their benefits are being taken advantage of on a daily basis. The Thom-Boy Project is dedicated to reversing this trend by providing Fiduciary or Representative Payee services with integrity and with the beneficiary’s utmost financial interest in mind.
The Thom-Boy Project, was founded in 2015 when the co-founders realized the overwhelming need for a reputable Fiduciary and Representative Payee service provider that is responsive, reachable and most important has integrity. Since that time, thousands of hours have been spent implementing a Board of Directors, developing policies and procedures, writing standards of practice, attending specialized representative payee training and countless other duties required to make The Thom-Boy Project a reality for the betterment of the communities it serves.
The Thom-Boy Project incorporates best practices and ethical standards of service in the least restrictive manner possible through education and advocacy of its clients and affirms to the following values:
1. We believe services are to be provided in the least restrictive manner possible
while respecting the rights and dignity of vulnerable persons.
2. We strive for the highest professional standards and ethics in providing service.
3. We are committed to the assistance of our clients as well as educating partner service organizations and community members.
4. We will ensure that our non-profit goals and resources will be partnered with reputable service providers for the sake of the service dogs and their persons.
The Thom-Boy Project's reputation for superior beneficiary service is spreading through social services organizations and more importantly, word of mouth from the clients.
The Thom-Boy Project’s cause is not only to provide a needed service to the clients, but also to help offset the cost of care and feeding of service animals to those in need. Training and providing for a service animal can be a costly venture that doesn’t end with the placement of an animal with a person in need; food, shelter, and health care are some of the cost involved for caring of a service animal. The Thom-Boy Project is working with agencies and partners to help offset the cost of the care and welfare of the service animals after placement.
